About Richard Pickles Counselling
I offer counselling for a variety off issues that can create difficulties in our lives. Through creating a safe, confidential space, together we can explore the difficulties you are facing, and find new meaningful ways of living that work for you. I believe that our past can influence how we see the world and ourselves, and through being able to let go of the things we can get caught up in we can see ourselves and the world in new ways.
I believe that it is within authentic empathetic relationships we can become free of shame, difficult relationships, addictive behaviours and harmful ways of seeing ourselves. I have trained in a variety of modalities, including psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural ways of working. I believe that fundamentally it is through the quality of relationships that we change and grow.
I have worked in addiction services, in private practice, as a lecturer, couple counsellor and supervisor for over ten years, and enjoy working in a boundaried way with people to help them move past difficulties.
I work during the day and evening and offer an initial 50 minute assessment to ensure I understand the relevant issues and who you are. After this we will agree together how we will work together
